ITINERARY

Your adventure begins with a morning flight from Arusha to Kigoma. Upon arrival, you will head straight to Kibirizi Port for a scenic boat ride across Lake Tanganyika to Gombe National Park, bypassing Kigoma town to maximize your time in the park. After checking in at your lodge and enjoying a hot lunch, embark on your first chimpanzee trekking experience in the dense forests of Gombe. Your guide will help you track the movements of these fascinating primates, allowing you to observe their natural behaviors up close. Along the way, you may also encounter colobus monkeys, baboons, forest pigs, and a variety of bird species. As the sun sets, return to your lodge for dinner and relaxation.
After an early breakfast, set off for a morning chimpanzee trek, following expert trackers deep into the forest. Watching these intelligent primates interact in their natural habitat is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Later, visit Kakombe Waterfalls, a breathtaking cascade hidden within the forest. If time allows, hike up to Jane’s Peak, a historic observation point where Dr. Jane Goodall conducted her pioneering chimpanzee research. Enjoy panoramic views of the park and Lake Tanganyika before returning to your lodge for dinner and an evening at leisure.
Start your morning with another incredible chimpanzee tracking experience in Gombe, exploring different valleys in search of more primate encounters. After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch before departing Gombe via boat back to Kigoma. Upon arrival in Kigoma, visit the Dr. Livingstone Memorial in Ujiji Village, where the legendary explorer met journalist Henry Morton Stanley in 1871. This historical site provides insight into Tanzania’s rich past and the exploration of Africa. After the visit, check in to your hotel and enjoy a relaxed evening by the lakeshore.
